Tools & Supplies “for preparing the surface” This will be one of the most important steps to ensuring a good job. Having the right tools will make this job a lot easier. Here's what you'll need |
|
( ) broom or blower ( ) 4” putty knife ( ) garden hose ( ) spray nozzle ( ) stiff bristle broom ( ) mild detergent ( ) de-greaser ( ) crack filler ( ) plastic sheet |
(broom dust and dirt from the surface prior to washing) (used to scrape any material not removed by brooming) (low pressure high volume for washing the surface) (spray nozzle for supplying pressure) (stiff bristle broom for brushing clean the wet surface) (dishwashing or laundry detergent in warm water) (tuff stuff of simple green to clean oil or grease spots) (flexible crack filler used to fill cracks in driveway surface) (testing to ensure surface is dry, 24” x 24” plastic sheet) |
|
( ) 5 gal mixing pails ( ) 5 gal wash pails ( ) 1/2” variable drill ( ) mixing paddle ( ) drop cloth ( ) masking tape ( ) duct tape ( ) roofing felt ( ) small paint brush ( ) large paint brush ( ) cleaning tools ( ) long nap roller ( ) roller & handle ( ) concrete broom ( ) hopper gun ( ) compressor ( ) cleaning tools ( ) stencils ( ) border stencils ( ) 3/4” strapping tape ( ) StencilCoat ( ) LiquidTint ( ) anti-slip aggregate |
(mix coating, make sure you have a couple extra pails) (don't mix in these pails, good idea to have two) (a variable speed drill is important, 400 to 600 rpm is ideal) (a 5” jiffler twin blade works well pulling the coating inward) (canvas drop cloth to mix coating on, soaks up spilt coating) (3/4” painters tape doesn’t leave a film when removed) (sticks to concrete & asphalt surfaces, tape down roofing felt) (heavy and doesn’t blow around in the wind) (works well for cleaning tools in the cleaning bucket) (coating in areas that are too tight to spray, roll or broom) (spinners and scrapers are handy for cleaning brushes) (pushes coating into the rough surface of your project) (good sturdy roller carriage and handle) (thin soft bristle concrete broom, to apply the first coat) (needs swivel base, allows spraying horizontal surface) (match required pressure from hopper, 40 psi standard) (check manufacturers recommended cleaning procedures) (variety of patterns to use on concrete and asphalt) (use border stencils to frame a job or as an accent) (finish areas where stencils don’t fit, or for large patterns) (concrete & asphalt coating for durable long life surface) (a variety of colors used to tint your coating on-site) (add texture and slip resistance to your top coat) |
